Still Snowed In

So we've been trying to find things to do with all of the snow! We officially had a blizzard with high winds, another 6 inches and white out conditions on Wednesday. I've been off of school since last Friday and will not be back until (maybe???) Monday. We've been trying to keep ourselves occupied in the house between trips outside to play.

The trees out back after the first major snowfall over the weekend.

Our patio after the weekend. Later I tried to walk over the table to get a bucket for Clara and I sank down over my knees and still didn't touch the ground. (Not easy when you're 8 months pregnant!)

Beautiful icicles by our garage. The melting snow from the roof refreezes right by the garage door. In one spot we have 3 inches of solid ice.

Chris attempting to shovel on Wednesday afternoon. We've had to put the snow across the street into a side yard. These townhouse communities just don't have a place to put it all!  He's 6'4, so you can see how much is piled up. On the other side of the "hill" you drop about 2 feet and then hit the main snowfall.

Clara is loving her "beach" toys and tasting the snow.

She wanted to wear a scarf like Curious George, and she tried her first icicle pop. It was about 12 inches long!

Inside, Clara has been busy helping Mommy cook the meals. All the time off from school has given me a chance to try some real cooking and new recipes.

We also made a few Valentine's for friends. Thank goodness for sticker books!

The Blizzard of '10

The snow started around 9:45 Am on Friday, but didn't stick on the roads until 7:00 pm. From then on it's been piling up faster than we can shovel!

Clara and Kendall resorted to crawling through the deepest snow - 20 inches and still falling at 10:00 AM Saturday.

Catching snowflakes was not hard considering how fast the snow was falling.

A futile attempt by the girls to get to Mr. Tom's front steps.

Clara's first snow angel.... and she's still catching flakes!

Clara asked Daddy to shovel paths to the different rooms in her "house."

Good hearted helpers aren't always the most efficient.

Shovel "cheers" for a valiant attempt.

Snow in January and February

People are starting to wonder if we really live in VA or if we've been transported to New England considering how much snow we've had. And our next big blizzard is set to begin in a few hours. Mommy appreciates the snow days off from school, and Clara loves playing in the snow.
